Ranking System:
Adult Kyu Ranks, are as follows:

White Belt:
When you are first starting in Uechi-Ryu you get a sparkling white belt. On a system from 1-10 you are begining as a 10. Ten being the "youngest" so to speak, and 1 being the "oldest" or- senior student.

10) Jukyu-White belt
9) Kyukyu-green stripe (placed on your white belt)
8) Hachikyu-2nd green stripe
7) Sichikyu-3rd green stripe
6) Rokyu- you receive a green bar- filling in all the stripes

Green Belt
The second belt earned.
5) Gokyu-your green belt
4) Yonkyu-1st brown stripe

Brown Belt
The last belt you'll receive before you begin your journey, as a black belt. Black belts receive "Dan" rankings or "degrees" of black belt.

3) Sankyu-your brown belt
2) Nikyu- 1st black stripe
1) Ikkyu-2nd black stripe

The student with the highest "rank" in the class is called "Ichi-bon"- senior student. This can be a white belt in a class of all white belts- or a black belt in a class with all kinds of experiences.





Children's Ranks
Children receive an extra belt, as well as more test days, to display and encourage their knowledge and growth in Uechi-Ryu. It is a reward system for their continued effort to do their very best.
