KARATE IS ABOUT DEFENSE

This Karate has roots in both China and Okinawa. Practiced under the stlyes of the crane and the tiger and  dragon. Focusing on the rooted stance of Sanchin.  As in most karate stlyes defense is the primary object of the practice. Relying on circle blocks and redirection of attacks.

Simplicity is the fire for the student  of Martial Arts.  The closer you look at the simple ways of things.  The more that  you realize  practice is the staircase.

About our Schools

We have opened five schools up to this point.  All five schools are in community centers.  One because the locations are easily accessed.  Two the cost of class can be kept as low as possible.  The monthly tuition is twenty five dollars a month.  Keeping the cost down is very important to most here in this rural area of the White Mountains.

We teach the same kata's, kumites and exercises to all students.  The adult class has and added feature, which is conditioning with a fellow student.  Yet all classes are taylored for the age group praticing.  Three things are paramount to the student.

1. Be respectful.

2. Try very hard.

3. Practice.

Do Sanchin everday.

Kanbun & Kanei Uechi

Two life times to reach out to.  Two spirits of hope.  Two worlds still affecting this one.

The lineage of our Karate

This how Karate came to you. A Shiaolin Preist in Fuchow City of southern China taught a man named Kanbun Uechi the art of Pwang-guy-noon.  After Kanbun's death in 1946 Kanei Uechi Kanbun's eldest son took what his father gave him.  Changing the name calling this style of martial arts Uechi-ryu.  Teaching this karate in Futema Okinawa Kanei began teaching a marine named Richard Pinkham.  Sensei Pinkham retruned home to open his own dojo. On April 6, 1974 Sensei Morgan entered this dojo and became a student of Uechi-Ryu.

GrandMaster Kanei Uechi

This  is Kanbun Uechi's (founder of Uechi-Ryu) eldest son.  He in is life time turned Uechi Karate in to a world wide practiced Martial Art. Most of his peers in the Karate world found his gentle and quiet nature contrasted by his powerful kata's.  He developed many of the componets in our Karate we practice today.   He spent his life understanding the art we practice.  Understanding his life still affects the present practice of Uechi's stlye of Martial Arts.
